Hi, This is Jenn Pope.

For 3+ years, Jenn has been taking a food first approach with patients. With a four year degree from Iowa State and Master of Science in Nutrition Diagnostics, she prides herself on being a well rounded, knowledgeable dietitian. She is grounded in a realistic approach that is centered around whole food as the basis of her nutrition strategies. Jenn prides herself on being relatable and easy to talk to about the many components of nutrition. She can't wait to work with you!

Jenn’s passion for nutrition started as a sophomore in high school. As she grew up playing sports, Jenn realized very quickly how much nutrition played a role in her performance on the court. This passion continued to grow leading Jenn to Iowa State University to pursue dietetics and eventually a Masters Degree years later. What makes Jenn so much different than other dietitians is that she not only has a passion for nutrition education, but food as well. Jenn loves to eat at the best local restaurants and continues to challenge herself on how she can always make the foods that fuel the body best also taste great. 

In spare time, you can expect to find Jenn working in her garden in the summer months, spending time with friends and family year round, and any time in between in the kitchen. Outside of the office, she is still working on her favorite recipe or challenging herself with a new recipe. Food is her love language and how she finds “me time.” 

Starting Roots was a big jump after working as an outpatient dietitian for a large hospital. Jenn realized shortly after starting to practice as a dietitian that the application piece to nutrition such as cooking, prepping, planning, was just as important as the educational piece. With that piece missing in the hospital setting, it was an obvious next step for Jenn to take, opening her own place where those application pieces were just as available to patients as the education is.

At Roots, we value evidenced based research, individualization, and a whole food approach. We provide customized nutrition advice in addition to application tools that help meet realistic and safe nutrition goals.

What is a Registered Dietitian?

A registered dietitian (RD), is a health professional who specializes in nutrition. Dietitian’s all have a minimum of a four year degree in addition to completing an accredited internship program with >1200 supervised practice hours. While dietitians specialize in food and nutrition counseling which can play a large role in preventative health, they do not prescribe any medication and prefer to work in collaboration with your medical team.

  • Lesa

    OFFICE MANAGER

    Lesa lives in Mason City, Iowa. She and her family moved to North Iowa in 2018. She was born and raised not far from Roots in Webster City, Iowa. She has four children and five grand-babies and counting. They keep her busy!

    Lesa and Jenn previously worked together in the healthcare industry, so when she was offered the opportunity to work at Roots, she could not help but jumped at the chance to help Jenn build her dream. She is beyond grateful for the opportunity and has loved serving the amazing patients.

  • Abby

    FRONT OFFICE STAFF

    Abby lives in Mason City, Iowa. Born and raised Iowa girl. She has been with her husband since high school and they are the very proud parents of two girls. Abby and her husband are also foster parents in the North Iowa area. Abby loves caring for vulnerable children and making them feel loved.

  • SAM

    FOOD PREPARATION

    Sam is passionate about keeping things simple and using clean and healthy ingredients. She loves being able to take that to the kitchen and help prep good food choices for other people. We call her the tornado here at Roots because she always keeps things fast-paced. We can count on her for loud laughs and bad dance moves in the kitchen while prepping your Grab and Go goods!

    Lea is a dietetic student at Iowa State and helps seasonally at Roots with farmers markets, cooking demos, and more!
